“We must have a Knights of Columbus presence in every parish.”
— Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson at his first meeting of KOC state deputies.
Here at Star of the Sea the Knights are represented by what we call a Roundtable. A Roundtable establishes a Knights presence in a parish. It is not a full council and the executive committee has only one member, the chairman, meetings are very short!
The goal of the Roundtable is to serve the parish priest and his church. The Roundtable must also have a sponsoring council and here at Star of Sea the sponsoring council is 9222 who’s members are located at the Cathedral.
Any KOC members regardless of their council affiliation, who are members of the Star of the Sea parish become associated with the Roundtable. At Star of the Sea we have members of the Roundtable from 4 different councils.
The members of the Roundtable have done various maintenance projects at the request of our pastors and continue to work closely with the CWL in hosting our annual Shrove Tuesday dinner and strawberry social in June. All of which has helped to increase the profile of the Knights at Star of the Sea Parish.
If you have any questions about becoming involved in our Roundtable or starting another one at a different parish you can reach me at gdl.niagara@gmail.com or visit the official Knights of Columbus web site at www.kofc.org.
God Bless,
Gilles Laroche
