Sunday 9:00 am Mass

They enjoy singing contemporary hymns that reflect the readings of the week, as well as, hymns from Breaking Bread.
As a group they have been able to attend many workshops and have met many composers. These include: Carey Landry, Marty Haugen, Michael Joncas, Dan Schutte and others. It is enriching to hear about the composers’ faith journeys through the music they share.
Please consider sharing your time and talent by joining this music ministry. They practice on Thursday at 6:45 pm with the 11:00 am choir in the Church. Feel free to just show up or call Rick at 905-646-1798.
Sunday 11:00 am Mass
The Director and accompanist for the 11:00 choir is Theresa Bujtas. The choir is comprised of mostly female vocalists: Paulette Helesic, Kaye Holla, Nancy Santamaria, and Laura Toal Mino. Ed McNamara provides a welcome male voice on most Sundays. We are fortunate to have Nancy, Paulette, Laura and Ed rotate as Cantors on Sundays.
As this is the Missa enim Populus (People’s Mass), in meeting the needs of the assembly, we try to select music that is both traditional and contemporary. Hymns are chosen to reflect the themes of the readings of the day.
Choir practice takes place every Thursday evening at 6:45 p.m. in the church. Also we ask that choir members attend at least 30 to 45 minutes before Mass in order to prepare themselves for Mass.
For special occasions during Lent and Advent, e.g. Evening Prayer, Ash Wednesday, the Triduum, the choirs join together at practice and for the services. Music Ministry meets twice a year to plan and evaluate the seasons of Advent and Lent and Easter.
If you are interested in joining the choir, please contact Theresa at 905-938-5210 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or attend practice to see if this ministry interests you.
